Last Detail is owned by Larry and Linda Whitaker of Whitaker Farms in Arkansas and Wyoming and has lived with trainers Ron Horn and June Warren of Yukon, Oklahoma since he was a yearling. Standing over 16.2 at his withers, Last Detail is as wonderfully balanced and correct as his photos show him to be. His trot has incredible reach and cadence and at the canter he has that rare talent to have tremendous drive and yet stay soft and suspended. His gentle disposition and trainability is evident in the fact that he was able to show and win on breeding days, just hours after being collected. He was truly a horse that loved being ridden and enjoyed his job. It was his special ability to have a great trot AND a phenomenal canter that enabled him to have a clean sweep in 1995 when, as a four year old, he won the Championship at the Quarter Horse Congress and was named AQHA World Champion in Junior Hunter under Saddle. Not only did he win at these events, he dominated them winning every cut, semi and preliminary round at both events, thus demonstrating his exceptional movement and extraordinary consistency and level headedness. At the Congress he showed the entire finals missing a front shoe as had overreached and pulled one off as he entered the arena. His kind, willing nature and huge heart made this feat possible. |

Last Detail was born with regular Quarter Horse papers and the first Thoroughbred in his pedigree is third generation back. He was selected as a stallion prospect based on his conformation, disposition, movement, strong pedigree and the thought that these factors should enable him to cross with Quarter mares, Appendix mares and straight TB mares. He was sired by a son of Easy Six and his dam was a daughter of Lady Bugs Moon. This cross produced several superior Hunter under Saddle and Working Hunter horses. Marthas Six Moons, sire of World and Congress Champion Hunter under Saddle horse Dolls Dark Diamond, was also sired by a son of Easy Six and out of a Daughter of Lady Bugs Moon. The bottom side of many World Champion performance horses has Lady Bugs Moon in the pedigree including Zippo LTD, Dash Thru Easily, Zippos Hot Chocolate and Zippo By Moonlight. The Top Moon and Easy Jet lines have been some of the foundation breeding lines for the hunt seat division. Itchin Easy, Maximum Moon, So Whats New, Moon Away Bay are just a few examples. This breeding has been noted for size, strong top lines, deep, slow legged movement and great hocks. Last Detail has truly lived up to this reputation. |

In 1996 Last Detail's first crop of 20 foals hit the ground. It was instantly apparent that he was stamping his foals with pretty heads and elegant necks with great shoulders, tremendous strength over their backs and loins, long hips and correct legs. They were tall and leggy yet balanced and correct. As they turned two, they demonstrated Last Detail's ease of training and effortless way of going. When they made their debut in 1998 they immediately began to make their mark. In 1998, The Detail Man, won the Congress Championship in the 2 YO Open HUS Futurity. Four others out of that same crop have placed at the World Show or Congress, one was a winner at Indio on the Hunter Circuit and still another earned over 30 all arounds. 25% of his first foal crop was World show or Congress placed. His next crop of 57 proved themselves as well when Ask Me For Details became his first World Champion and many others won futurities and major circuits. In 2001 when Last Detail's 1998 offspring - his first crop born after AQHA allowed shipped semen - turned three, the Details dominated at almost every major futurity and show. For 2001 Last Detail was the Equistat and NSBA #1 leading sire of hunt seat money earners. He has made the top 3 every year since and is now the #4 All Time Leading hunt seat sire by moneys earned on both lists. He has consistently been the top hunt seat sire on all AQHA leading sire lists and is currently the AQHA 3rd all time leading sire of hunt seat money earners. An incredible feat, considering that both of the stallions listed above him have offspring the same age as Last Detail! He has now sired the earners of 10 AQHA World Championships, 5 Reserves, and 5 IBHA World Championships. What is so special about the Details is that not only have they won the big open events, but they have also been successfully shown by non-professionals. For 2003 and 2004 Last Detail was the leading sire of AQHA Amateur HUS winners and the sire of the World Show All Around Champion for both years. His offspring have won World or Reserve World Championships in HUS in the Amateur, Open, Youth and Select divisions and have excelled in the fence and pattern classes. He has sired AQHA World Champions in Amateur Pleasure Driving, Working Hunter, Equitation, Hunter Hack and Equitation over Fences. My Legs Are Detailed won the Select World Champion HUS while just a three year old. Tellatall Detail won the Reserve Championship at the Youth World in the HUS while his rider was still a novice. In a testament of their good minds, both horses lived at home with their owners, only getting assistance from trainers while at shows. The Details are becoming quite renowned for jumping ability, athleticism and all around ability, proof of Last Detail's strength as a sire. |

This past year at the 2004 Congress Last Detail once again proved that he is consistently siring strong, mature, trainable offspring when his sons Must Be A Detail and The Perfect Detail took both the Championship and the Reserve Championship in the 2 yr old open Hunter Under Saddle Futurity. He was also the Grandsire of the Champion and Reserve in the Hunter Longe Line class there as his son, The Last Captive, sired the two that captured those titles. Quite a record for a stallion this is just now turning fourteen years of age. Of note is the fact that Last Detail has been able to cross with such a wide variety of mares. His World Champions and Congress winners all come from different dams, proving that he is not only complimenting a few mares. He has crossed beautifully with TB mares, particularly breeding that goes back to Bold Ruler, Native Dancer, Turn To and Princequillo. He has crossed great with Quarter mares from race breds to pleasure and halter breeding. Last Detail is creating a legacy of talented, kind, great moving hunt seat horses and we invite you to become a part of that legacy. |
